Global toy industry sales rose by 3% in the first half of 2017. Market research firm NPD Group tracks international sales from January to June and estimates that the industry for the full year will grow by about 4%. Mexico and Russia are the fastest growing markets in the world, with toy sales increasing by 20% and 14% respectively. At the same time, US toy sales increased by 3%, compared with 5% last year, reaching $20.4 billion. Sales fell in Australia (down 2%) and the UK (down 1%). Earlier this year, NPD and the British Toys and Hobby Association reported that UK toy sales rose 6.3% in 2016.
