High performance low cost PP heat seal film

Toray Plastics (USA) has introduced a co-extruded metal-coated oriented polypropylene (MOPP) heat-sealing film Torayfan PCFS. The raw material of MOPP is PP blend. This kind of heat sealing film is convenient to use and does not require the process of applying sealant on the surface of general heat sealing film. It is used to replace the traditional paper/PE/aluminum foil/PE (PPFP) structural heat sealing film.

MOPP resin melt has low viscosity and therefore has good fluidity. Compared with the sealing layer generally used for compounding with BOPP (Biaxially Extruded Polypropylene) film, the sealing quality is high, and the heat sealing layer starts with a low heat sealing temperature. During the heat sealing process, PCFS shows good caulking ability, inflow corners, small dents, and around the sealing member, eliminating the need for an additional PE sealing layer as in conventional PPFR structural sealants. The aluminum foil in the PPFP structure is very thin, easy to produce pinholes and perforations, and to reduce the barrier properties, PCFS has good barrier properties and will not be reduced by perforation. This new type of heat sealable film has lower cost than traditional heat sealable film and has economic advantages.
