KHS Introduces Third Generation Aseptic Cold Filling Equipment

KHS introduced the third generation of Aseptic Cold Filling (ACF), which uses "wet disinfection" methods for plastic bottles. The third-generation equipment has many technological updates, small footprint, improved microbiological safety, and higher cost-effectiveness.

The aseptic solutions provided by KHS for the beverage industry include "dry disinfection" and "wet disinfection", both of which are highly safe. Which one to choose depends on the specific operating mode selected by the factory, the transportation conditions, the quality of the bottle caps, and the type of beverages that are filled.

Compared with the first generation, the third-generation ACF covers only 20% of the original area. Glass compartments and special hygienic cleanrooms increase microbiological safety.

Bottles and filling gears are also surrounded by some space, filtered clean air passes through these separate areas, and then back to the filter device. From the actual operation, it was confirmed that the equipment of KHS is highly reliable and hardly requires any external intervention. The glass compartment of the third generation device allows the operator to enter the front area of ​​the device from the sanitary cleaning room, which is sufficient. The other side of the glass compartment is directly connected to the bottled device and no additional space is required. Although the floor space is smaller than in the past, it is still not possible to open the compartment directly and expose it to the bottled area.

If the operator needs to intervene on the equipment, the glass compartment can be opened from the hygiene room. Once the operator completes the task, the outer surfaces of all equipment and the inner wall of the glass isolation chamber will be automatically disinfected. After the disinfection process is completed, the equipment is returned to the aseptic filling operation. In addition, no additional disinfection methods are required.

KHS very much trusts the "single wash bottle" concept. The ACF device employs a star wheel to reduce the surface contact of the moving member with the compartment. The computer-controlled DNVF filling system is very flexible and can be converted from non-carbonated beverages to carbonated drinks at the push of a button. DNVF is suitable for oxygen sensitive, foamy and fruity drinks. In addition, for non-carbonated beverages, users can also use Innofill NV filling system.
