The principle is that when the light is irradiated onto the liquid surface, there is a certain correlation between the incident light intensity, the transmitted light intensity, the scattered light intensity ratio and the water sample turbidity, by measuring the transmitted light intensity, the scattered light intensity and The turbidity of the water sample is determined by the ratio of the incident light intensity or the transmitted light intensity to the scattered light intensity. Optical turbidimeters are used in the laboratory and are also used for automated continuous measurements in the field.

How the instrument works

1. This instrument uses the principle of integrating sphere turbidity measurement:

A bundle of parallel light propagates in a transparent liquid. If there are no suspended particles in the liquid, the beam will not change direction when it travels in a straight line. If there are suspended particles, the beam will change when it encounters the particles (regardless of the transparency of the particles) Whether or not). This forms what is called scattered light. The more particles (the higher the turbidity) the more severe the scattering of light. Turbidity is measured using an instrument called a turbidimeter. The turbidimeter emits light through a length of sample and detects how much light is scattered by particles in the water from a direction 90° from the incident light. This method of measuring scattered light is called a scattering method. Any true turbidity must be measured in this way. The turbidimeter is suitable for both field and laboratory measurements as well as for continuous monitoring throughout the day. A turbidimeter can be set to alert when the measured turbidity value exceeds safety standards.
