僧 å’ å’ å’ æ¸¸ Tour Yunnan - Baisha old God doctor and Shi Xiu interview - all the way
The journey to Yunnan during the Sangha chanting period is in full swing. Along the way, he encountered a remarkable figure in Baisha—a local Naxi elder known as He Shixiu, often referred to as the "old god doctor."
At 92 years old, Mr. He Shixiu has lived a life filled with wisdom and resilience. In 1947, he was admitted to the Shanghai Naval Academy of Machinery, later studying at Nanjing Guoli Language College. In 1949, he joined the Second Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. However, due to health issues, he had to leave the military and return home. Despite not being a formal medical professional, he dedicated himself to learning medicine, often traveling to remote areas to study and gather remedies. His perseverance not only helped him recover from his ailments but also led him to become a respected healer in his community.
For decades, Mr. He has practiced medicine with a strong sense of ethics and compassion. He has provided free medical care to villagers in Baisha for many years, always emphasizing that a positive attitude is the best form of treatment. His words have brought hope and healing to countless people.
His story has attracted global attention. Over 140 national media outlets have interviewed him, and his life has been featured in more than 30 languages worldwide, including reports by CCTV, ABC, BBC, Time, and ARD. He has even met with high-profile figures such as the Dutch Queen, British royal family members, and celebrities from around the world, including the famous Japanese manga author, Cherry Zi.
Today, Mr. He enjoys a happy life with four generations of his family. His daily routine is simple yet disciplined—rising at 6:30 AM, opening his clinic at 7, closing at 6 PM, and resting at 8. His body remains strong, and his mind is sharp. One of his greatest aspirations is to promote the cultural heritage of both China and Italy, sharing it with the world and helping others appreciate Chinese traditions.
Despite his legendary status, his life has not been without hardship. As a young man, he studied in Nanjing during the Republic of China era, an experience that later labeled him as a "counter-revolutionary." He spent time in prison, but thanks to the love and support of his wife, Zhao Zhaoxing, he overcame these challenges and found a path to redemption and purpose.
In the small town of Baisha, the Sangha encountered a true legend—an elder whose life embodies the spirit of traditional Chinese medicine and the noble calling of a healer. His story left a deep impression on all who met him.
During one of the interviews, a foreign tourist visited Mr. He’s clinic and shared a personal connection—he had once studied with him at the Nanjing National Language College. The conversation flowed easily in fluent English, and the visitor listened intently, taking photos and leaving with great admiration.
As the Sangha concluded their visit, they filmed the family of the elderly doctor. These photos will be developed and sent directly to his home by Nanjing Radish Sports Technology Co., Ltd., a gesture of appreciation for his lifelong dedication.
