Bacteria is the earth's last biological ELISA kit

Scientists believe that the last living organism on Earth will be a microorganism that lives deep underground, because as the sun becomes hotter and brighter, it can only survive in such extreme conditions.

Scientists at the University of St Andrews, Dundee University and the University of Edinburgh expect the sun to become very hot in the next 1 billion years and the earth ’s oceans will start to disappear.

"Entering this turning point, there is a lot of water in the atmosphere, and water vapor is a greenhouse gas that will exacerbate the greenhouse effect, and the earth's temperature rises to 100 degrees Celsius or even higher," said Jack James of the University of St Andrews in Scotland. "At the same time, as oxygen is reduced, it will cause plants and large animals to disappear quickly."

Soon, a bacterium called extreme bacteria will be the only life form left on earth. This microorganism is already present on the earth and can survive in harsh environments.

"There will not be too much oxygen at that time, so they need to survive in a low-oxygen or anaerobic environment, and high pressure, high salinity, because the seawater evaporates." Jack James said.

However, as the living conditions worsen, the bacteria will eventually become extinct. In about 2.8 billion years, the planet will have no life.
