On June 1, the announcement of North China Expressway showed that China Merchants Capital Investment Co., Ltd. plans to initiate the establishment of a corporate industrial fund, Xiangtou Investment Co., Ltd., with a scale of no more than 2 billion yuan. North China Expressway plans to invest 150 million yuan to participate in the fund.
The fund plans to attract no more than 50 investors, and is still in the stage of seeking investors. In addition to the North China Expressway, China Merchants Capital plans to invest 300 million yuan.
Xiangtou Investment Co., Ltd. mainly invests in listed companies and opportunistic investment listed companies to issue additional restructurings, focusing on strategic emerging industry opportunities encouraged by the country such as new energy, new materials, biology and new medicine.
Since the opening of the direct investment pilot program for securities firms in 2007, 31 securities firms have set up direct investment companies with a total registered capital of 22.51 billion yuan. The annual investment scale has risen from 151 million yuan in 2007 to 6.498 billion yuan in 2010. Among them, the registered capital of CITIC Securities is as high as 4.6 billion yuan.
