Happy National Golfer’s Day!
**Celebrate National Golfer's Day with Cardboard Creativity!**
Friday, 10th April 2015 – did you know it’s National Golfer’s Day? If you’re like me, this might be the first time you’ve heard about it. But what a fantastic excuse to appreciate one of the world’s most beloved hobbies! Golf is something that transcends age, gender, and skill level. Whether you're savoring the fresh air on a pristine golf course or stuck indoors, today’s the perfect day to embrace the sport—or even give it a creative twist.
I’m sure many of us dream of hitting the links, but not everyone has access to a course or ideal weather. So why not bring the game straight to your living room or office with some DIY flair? All you need is a little imagination, some basic materials, and a love for both golf and recycling. Here’s how I turned a mundane afternoon into a mini-golf adventure using nothing but cardboard!
---
To kick things off, I started by crafting a cardboard putting green. For this, I used thick double-wall cardboard sheets as my foundation. Cutting them into the desired shape was easy, and securing the pieces together with sturdy tape ensured stability. Next came the hole – just punch one out carefully and add a tiny flag for authenticity. To spice things up, I attached small tees to postal tubes and placed them strategically around the green for fun putting challenges.
After warming up, it was time to build the centerpiece of my indoor course: a cardboard castle! With a large box at hand, I carefully cut its sides into the shape of a medieval fortress, complete with turrets and an arched drawbridge. A bit of artistic flair never hurt anyone—so I covered the structure in colored tissue paper, adding intricate details like banners and battlements. It looked almost too good to putt on, but hey, duty called!
No self-respecting miniature golf setup would be complete without a windmill. I transformed another cardboard box into the iconic structure, attaching cardboard strips for spinning blades. A small opening at the base served as the final challenge—a perfect way to end the round. Voilà ! My homemade course was ready.

The experience reminded me just how versatile golf can be. Sure, playing on real grass under blue skies is unmatched, but creating something unique in your own space is equally rewarding. Plus, it’s a great activity for families, friends, or even solo adventurers looking to shake things up.
If you decide to take the plunge and build your own cardboard course, don’t forget to share your masterpiece online! Snap some photos and post them to Facebook, Twitter, or email them directly to me. Who knows? You might inspire others to join in on the fun.
So here’s to celebrating National Golfer’s Day in style—with a touch of creativity and a whole lot of cardboard. Happy swinging, everyone!
