Japan's Kaneka Launches Recycling PET Modifier

Japan's Kaneka Corporation has introduced four new modifiers to improve the characteristics and processability of recycled PET. Two of the additive impact modifiers are Kane Ace M-400 acrylic and M-600 MBS. The acrylic type is mainly used to improve its outdoor weatherability, and the MBS type is used to increase the production efficiency. At the same time, they can also be used for toughening other engineering plastics.

The other two reactive acrylic processing aids are Kane Ace MP-20 and MP-40, respectively. They can increase the viscosity of recycled PET due to the possibility of partial cross-linking. This tackified resin can be injection molded, blown, and extruded as a new material into frames, tubes, hot-pressed sheets, and blown films. When used at 0.5 to 3 phr., MP-20 is used for opaque products, while MP-40 is used for transparent products. It can be injection molded into trash cans, trays and chairs with a capacity of 90L. It should be noted that these products must add the company's new impact modifiers to perform their synergy. According to Kaneka, increasing the melt viscosity allows the impact modifier to disperse better and increase its effectiveness.
